Texas Board of Architectural Examiners
The State’s licensing board is established under state statute and administers architectural resources, Architect licenses and Continuing Professional Development.
Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
TDLR is the State department that handles licensing of construction workers such as: electricians, HVAC contractors, plumbers and license complaints.
Attorney General of Texas
Consumer Protection is a department established under the Attorney General of Texas and deals with common frauds against consumers. The State does not license General Contractors so workmanship, contractual disputes and fraud are common matters to be investigated.
International Building Code
Local, State and Federal agencies adopt the International Building Code and variations thereof when assessing architectural drawings for building permit.
Institute of Architects
Institute of Architects (AIA) is a largest professional body in the nation. The AIA publishes a variety of useful documents, such as well drafted contracts, for use in construction projects.
National Construction Code (NCC)
This NCC document is adopted through State based Acts and Regulations. Local municipalities apply the NCC to building permit applications for assessment against building standards referenced by the NCC.
