Energy Efficiency House Design
The architect designed energy efficiency house design ensures panoramic views from the residence’s open plan living spaces so occupants enjoy the visceral quality of the surrounding natural landscape. The muscular architectural design maximizes the view and connection with the natural landscape setting while utilizing Environmentally Sustainable Design principles.
The live-ability of the passive solar design is evident during the cooler winter months when the sun’s azimuth is much lower to the horizon. The sun’s radiant heat is captured in the concrete slab heat sink during the cooler winter months. The open-plan living space gains the heat during the daylight hours and releases heat during the cold winter evenings.
The skillion roof form of the open plan living area intersects the flat-roofed parapet pavilion above the accommodation zone. The architectural design incorporates sophisticated UV filtered rainwater harvesting which is connected to a large water tank for potable water storage. This architectural design delivers occupants delightful chlorine and fluoride free rainwater to each faucet. Corrugated steel and gun metal grey fire-rated weatherboard forms the walls and roofs so as to visually recede into the Texas bush setting.
The energy efficiency house design has a burnished concrete slab, corrugated steel, weatherboard cladding creating a low maintenance green residence. The burnished concrete slab offers the same aesthetic as polished concrete with a reduced floor finish budget. Taking a passive solar, self-sufficient approach to services and sustainability, the house features solar photovoltaic cells, solar hot water system incorporating a wood fire box for hot water boosting, on-site grey and black water processing with on-site composting.
The architect designed kitchen is the residence hub and incorporates the latest porcelain panel selections to the kitchen benchtops. Stainless steel appliances combined with Blum Adventos Lift overhead cupboards provide a pragmatic and functional aesthetic.
